Second Half Flurry Furthers Sunbirds Road Woes

SANTA BARBARA, Calif.-A second-half flurry furthered the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (5-5 overall, 2-2 PacWest) road woes in a 4-0 loss to the Westmont Warriors (2-5-2 overall, 2-0-0 PacWest) Saturday afternoon at Thorrington Field.

The Sunbirds' dropped their fourth consecutive road contest while Westmont remains unbeaten in PacWest play.

The match was scoreless after the first 45 minutes but FPU had chances on four early corners, holding the edge in set pieces.

However, Westmont came out of the half with a flurry, scoring a pair of goals within five minutes of the break.

The Warriors added  two more in the final fifteen minutes to secure the margin.

Westmont outshot FPU 11-6 in the second half and 16-9 for the game, with 11 of Westmont's shots coming on goal.

That pressed Elmer Carballo into seven saves.

Fresno Pacific will remain on the hunt for its first road win next Saturday when they travel to San Francisco to take on the Academy of Art at Noon.
