Azusa doubled the advantage twenty minutes later when a cross made its way from the left to the right of the box, where the Cougars were able to convert and make it 2-0.
The Sunbirds had some chances in the second half that included four shots on goal.
But a second yellow against FPU's
Lucas Ribeiro forced the Sunbirds to play down a man for the final thirteen minutes.
The physical match saw 30 fouls and ten total cards.
Fresno Pacific will return home for the first time in nearly a month when it hosts Biola Saturday evening at 5:00pm on Ramirez Field in Fresno.
