HONOLULU, Hawaii.- The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds fell in straight sets to the Hawaii Pacific University Sharks at the Shark Tank Saturday night. 

The Sharks were clicking offensively early taking an early lead 7-5. 

Fresno Pacific struggled to stop HPU who would go on to win 11 out of the next 15 points to go up 18-9.

The Sunbirds would only score four more points to lose the first 25-13.

Two errors on the Sharks allowed the Sunbirds to take their first lead of the match 2-1 early in the second set. 

The second continued with both teams going on runs but the Sharks maintaining the slight edge. 

A breakthrough for the 'Birds came at 11-8 as they won five of the next six points to tie the score 12-12. 

The Sunbirds continued the scoring with a pair of errors on the Sharks, a kill from Geneva Elliott, and a service ace from Cambria Waites to retake the lead 16-14.

Fresno Pacific and HPU continued to trade points late into the set.

A kill from Elliott and a block by Ogas and Elliot gave the 'Birds set point at 25-24, but the Sharks answered tying the score and giving themselves set point. 

The Sunbirds were able to fight off one set point, but not the next as the Sharks took the second 28-26 after a set of ten tie scores and six lead changes. 

The back-and-forth continued into the third as both teams struggled to hit through each others blocks and commit errors. 

At 17-17, HPU scored five of the next six points to put the 'Birds down four. 

 A kill from Elliott and a service ace from Acosta brought Fresno Pacific back within two, but it wasn't enough as Hawaii Pacific took the third set 25-21 and the match 3-0.

The Sunbirds recorded ten total team blocks with six players with at least one and Elliott leading the way with six.

Fresno Pacific will travel to University of Hawaii at Hilo for a matchup against the Vulcans Monday night at 7pm.
