SAN JOSE, Calif.-A grueling weekend against top competition saw the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (3-19 overall) fall 19-5 to the San Jose State Spartans, concluding the Julian Fraser Memorial Tournament Sunday morning.
After three games against other Division I programs, the 'Birds saw their opponent again race out in front during the first quarter as San Jose State scored five times before
William Green scored FPU's first goal.
San Jose State tallied one more in the final seconds of the quarter for a 6-1 lead.
Green netted another in the second quarter and
Forrest Gray scored twice before halftime as FPU outscored the Spartans in the period 3-2, but trailed 8-4 at the half.
The Sunbirds ran out of gas in the second half as Green scored the only other FPU goal while San Jose State scored eleven times to close out the weekend.
Fresno Pacific returns home from the road next weekend, hosting CUI at Sunnyside Aquatics Center Friday at 1:00 p.m.
