SAN FRANCISCO-The Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (5-5-1 overall, 2-2-1 PacWest) snapped a two-match goalless streak with the return of
Lucas Ribeiro spurring a 2-2 draw against the Academy of Art Urban Knights (2-8-4 overall, 2-3-1 PacWest) Saturday afternoon at the CCSF Soccer Field.
Ribeiro scored both goals, first putting FPU in front and then finding the equalizer in his first match back in three matches.
The Sunbirds opened the scoring in the 23
rd minute when
Stephan Morris sent a through ball ahead for
Lucas Ribeiro who slipped behind the defense.
Ribeiro was dragged down in the box setting up a penalty kick that he deposited into the top of the netting for a 1-0 lead.
The lead remained through the half but ART U scored two goals before the 70 minute mark to take a 2-1 lead.
However, Ribeiro found the back of the net again in the 83
rd minute on an assist from
Chris Macias to tie the match at 2-2.
FPU finds its first points on the road this year with the draw while also snapping a two match losing streak without scoring.
The Sunbirds continue the road trip next Saturday at Concordia University Irvine at 3:30 p.m. in Irvine.
