TURLOCK, Calif. – The FPU men's soccer team (1-1-0, 0-0 PacWest) made its return to the pitch in 10 days on Monday, falling 4-0 to Stanislaus State (1-1-1, 0-0 CCAA).
After two shots in three minutes, the Warriors were able to get on the board and take the lead in the 5
th minute with a goal.
Taran Williams was able to get a shot off for the Sunbirds in the 7
th minute, that was off target, and Stanislaus State responded with five more shots, including its second goal of the game in the 16
th minute to double its lead.
The Warriors were able to make it 3-0 in the 26
th minute. The Sunbirds were able to get off three shots before halftime, including a shot on goal from
Lucas Ribeiro in the 37
th minute, but they were unable to put one in the net, and Stanislaus State took a 3-0 lead into the break.
The Warriors were able to add their fourth goal in the 51
st minute, and despite three shots from the Sunbirds, they were able to hold off the attack and get the win.
FPU will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 10 when they host Sonoma State at Ramirez Field at 7 p.m.
