FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's and women's tennis teams hosted Azusa Pacific on Friday in Fresno, as the Cougars toppled the Sunbird men before the women saw their four-match conference win streak come to an end.

"It was a tough day for both teams. It was a hard fought battle," head coach George Rodriguez said. "The men had chances to squeeze a couple matches and the women also had opportunities to win a few flights. We came up short this time but will be ready for our next opportunity."
 
WOMEN'S MATCH
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Maria Bordoii and Lea Falentin proved to be evenly matched with their opponent in #1 doubles, but their match went unfinished as the doubles point went to the Cougars. 
• Falentin took the first set of #2 singles, but her opponent came back to take it 1-6, 7-5, 6-0. 
• After falling in the first set, Sanne Brull was great for the Sunbirds, taking #5 singles 4-6, 6-1, 6-1. 

 MEN'S MATCH
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Martin Ramirez and Gregor Kliimask battled to an unfished match during doubles, but the Sunbirds dropped the point. 
• Paco Wortelmann returned to the lineup but fell 6-4, 6-2 in #5 singles. 
• Sven Bangert hung tough in #6 singles, but fell 7-6, 6-4.

• The men's team takes on Concordia tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Irvine, Calif. while the women must wait until Wednesday to take on Holy Names at 3 p.m. in Oakland, Calif.
