FRESNO, Calif. – The FPU men's and women's tennis teams celebrated Maria Borodii and Alice Di Matteo between their matches against Biola on Friday afternoon. The Sunbird women had an impressive 6-1 victory over Biola, while the men fell 7-0 to the Eagles.

"Both Alice and Maria have meant the world to myself and the team. In the two seasons I've been here we have built a relationship based on trust. They have pushed the rest of the team to excellence and to give 100 percent at practice and matches. They lead by example and compete with hearts. They exemplify what dedication and hard work is all about!" – head coach Geroge Rodriguez said. 

MATCH ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Borodii and Lea Falentin set the tone in #1 doubles, taking their match 6-3. 
• Di Matteo and Sanne Brull secured the doubles point with a 6-3 win in the second flight. 
• Alice Marques was excellent in #5 singles, taking it 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. 
• After dropping the first set in #2 singles, Falentin fought back to earn the point for the Birds by scores of 6-7, 6-0, 6-3. 
• Brull secured the win for the Sunbirds in #4 singles, taking her match 4-6, 6-0, 7-6. 
• Di Matteo and Elise Leik also picked up wins in their singles match. 

MEN'S MATCH
HOW IT HAPPENED

• Ben Cronau played tough in #1 singles, forcing a third set before falling 6-7, 6-3, 10-7. 
• Gregor Kliimask also forced a third set but couldn't get it done in #4 singles by scores of 6-4, 4-6, 10-8. 
• Pablo Zubieta tried to earn the Birds a point but was outlasted 4-6, 7-5, 10-7.
