Sunbirds Can't Tame Tigers On The Road

STOCKTON, Calif. ­– The Fresno Pacific women's water polo team had a nonconference matchup against the University of the Pacific on Wednesday ahead of its home opener on Saturday, falling 15-5 on the road.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first quarter saw a lot of action, with the Tigers striking first to go up 3-0.
  • Emily Lopez-Ibarra scored her first goal to get the Sunbirds on the board with 3:20 left in the period, but Pacific answered to go up 4-1.
  • Rosemary Chapman added her name to the box score with a goal with 2:27 left in the first quarter, but the Tigers scored two more to close out the period and take a 6-2 lead into the second quarter.
  • Pacific continued its run with five more goals in the second quarter to take an 11-2 lead into halftime, and they added one more to start the third quarter to make it 12-2.
  • Amy Zaninovich scored shortly after before the Tigers scored one more, maintaining their 10-point lead.
  • Lopez-Ibarra scored her second goal of the game with 5:31 left in the third quarter, but Pacific answered with two more to take a 15-4 lead into the final period.
  • Chapman was able to net her second goal of the game with 4:19 left in the contest.
STATS FROM THE GAME
  • Lopez-Ibarra and Chapman each finished with two goals and two points.
  • Zaninovich had one goal and one point in the contest.
  • Camryn Berra recorded six saves.
  • Tatum Benson assisted on one goal to finish the game with one point.
