Sunbirds Drop Final Match in Colorado

DENVER, Colo. – The Fresno Pacific men's tennis team closed out its time in Colorado on Saturday with a 5-2 loss at the hands to Metro State Denver.

QUOTABLE

"The team really played at a different level today, and that was satisfying to see. They fought hard, played with composure and gave themselves a chance to win. We came up short, but the chances were there. That's what I wanted to see." – head coach George Rodriguez

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Roadrunners were able to take the doubles point after winning the No. 3 matchup 6-2 and the No. 2 match 7-5, despite Ben Cronau and Joshua Wong holding a 6-5 lead in the No. 1 match.
  • MSU Denver added a second point in the No. 5 singles match, and then added two more to take the deciding point in the No. 4 match.
  • They went ahead 5-0 with a win in the No. 6 match, but Wong was able to put a point on the board for the Sunbirds in the No. 3 match after a 6-4, 4-6, 10-3 win.
  • Cronau added the second and final point for FPU in an exciting 7-5, 4-6, 11-9 tiebreak win in the No. 1 match.
