Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Rillo Leads Sunbirds Over Sea Lions with Game-High 15 Points

SAN DIEGO – The FPU women's basketball team bounced back in a big way on Friday night, as Anisa Rillo led the Sunbirds with a game-high 15 points while the team picked up a 59-53 victory over the Point Loma on their home floor.

QUOTABLE

"We were hungry tonight to put together a full game. We executed the offensive game-plan and brought the same effort that we are accustomed to defensively. This year hasn't gone the way we've wanted for a multitude of reasons, but there isn't a single person in our inner circle that has flinched. We will continue to stay tight, pursue the best version of our team, and collectively believe that our start to the season will prepare us for the finish we want. It's always "anybody any night" for us and tonight we had a plethora of people step up. Special shoutout to our freshmen who have been thrust into vital roles early in their careers. Starting two freshmen and playing our group of freshmen 50% of our minutes tonight was fun to watch. Proud of their perseverance in what has been far from an easy start to their college experience. Excited to get on that plane tomorrow and build upon the win in Hawaii." – head coach Tim Beauregard
