HONOLULU, Hawai'i-Free-kicks, penalty kicks and a goal kick all hurt the Fresno Pacific Sunbirds (2-10-2 overall, 0-6-1 PacWest) in a 3-0 loss Hawai'i Pacific Sharks (5-4-2 overall, 3-2 PacWest) Friday night

The teams were even most of the first half but Hawai'i Pacific created some dangerous runs as halftime approached.

HPU drew a free-kick in the attacking third, just inside the half hour mark, and appeared to take the lead. But the goal was disallowed as the referee had not blown the whistle. The Sharks next kick ricocheted off of the FPU wall and momentarily turned into a counter-attack.

Just six minutes later, HPU created another opportunity outside of the '18, this time cashing in the free-kick from short distance.

Fresno Pacific trailed 1-0 entering halftime.

The scored remained that way until the hour mark when the Sharks drew a foul in the box for a penalty kick. HPU doubled their advantage by cashing in the PK.

FPU put a trio of chances on goal with Tomas Escobar, Omri Schwartz and Giovanni Segovia each challenging the HPU keeper.

However, the Sharks converted on the slightest of chances. HPU added a third goal in the 80^th minute off of a goal kick, tapping the second ball through for a one-on-one opportunity and score to make it 3-0.

Julian Aran Martin had a valiant effort on a header off a cross that just missed to the right of the goal in the 88^th minute.

Fresno Pacific still had an edge in shots and total chances, creating five corners to HPU's two.

The Sunbirds will return to the mainland, hosting the Academy of Art Thursday night at 7:30 p.m. on Ramirez Field.
