FPU Falls Short Against Azusa

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University women's basketball welcomed the challenge of #19 Azusa Pacific to the Special Events Center on Saturday afternoon. A 27-point third quarter proved to be the difference for the Cougars, as they handled the Sunbirds 72-52.

QUOTABLE

"We took some steps in the right direction in a handful of areas. I thought we had really good connectivity for most of the first half. A couple of compound mistakes at the end of the second quarter sent us to halftime down seven. In the third quarter, we lost our focus and let Azusa get way too many easy looks and compounded that stretch with a lot of carelessness offensively. The areas where we took steps forward will serve us well on Monday. I believe we played some of our best basketball this game, but we need longer durations of sustained, good basketball. It's in us, and we will continuously seek it." – head coach Tim Beauregard
