FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University women's soccer team opened PacWest Conference play when they hosted Point Loma on Saturday evening. The Sea Lions scored in each half, shutting out the Sunbirds 2-0.

HOW IT HAPPENED

(17:28) The Sea Lions struck first when Abigail Schmidt found the back of the net.
(52:28) PLNU added to their lead when Alana Diaz scored off an assist by Kourtney Kessler.

STATS FROM THE GAME

The Sunbirds were outshot in the contest 14-5.
Birgitta Eggertsdottir made four saves in 90 minutes in goal for the Birds.
Ariana Quintero and Bryana Yoshida led FPU with two shots each.
Kaila Takai entered from off the bench and fired one shot in 20 minutes of play.

Quintero made her first career start for the Sunbirds.
