BELMONT, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University volleyball team took on Academy of Art on Wednesday night. The Sunbirds stumbled against the Urban Knights, dropping the match 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-19).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Sunbirds led 12-9 before the Urban Knights used an 8-3 run during the middle stages of the opening set.
• FPU led 22-21 when the Art U pieced together 4-1 run to take the set 25-23.
• The home team controlled the second set, scurrying out to a 20-12 lead before taking it 25-18.
• The Blue and Orange struggled early in the third set, going down 12-5.
• The Sunbirds couldn't muster enough offense to get into the set, dropping it 25-19 and the match 3-0.  

STATS FROM THE MATCH: 

• Corinne Acosta led the 'Birds with 10 kills while adding 10 digs for the double-double.
• Lauren Wamsley ranked second on the team in kills with nine.
• The offense flowed through Catie Speas, who dished out 25 assists.
• Chantel Montayre led the defense with 23 digs.
• Chloe Mellis had four block assists on the evening.
