SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The FPU volleyball team saw its' perfect 3-0 record in PacWest play come to a close on Friday afternoon, as Dominican protected home court by taking a 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-15) win on Friday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• After trailing 8-1 in the opening set, the Sunbirds stormed back to close the gap to one as the score sat 11-10. 
• The Penguins were able to hold off the 'Birds and take the first set 25-20. 
• Set two was a battle that led to the Blue and Orange holding a 23-21 lead. 
• The Penguins found a way to a piece together a 4-0 run that secured a 25-23 second set victory. 
• DUC cruised to a 25-13 third set victory to take the match 3-0. 

STATS FROM THE MATCH: 

• Corinne Acosta led the 'Birds with 13 kills, while adding 10 digs to complete the double-double. 
• Makena Ogas was the only other Sunbird to finish with double-figure kills, smashing home 10 during the match.
• Catie Speas put together a unique double-double, leading the Blue and Orange with 15 assists while recording 11 digs. Speas added four aces from behind the service line. 
• Chantel Montayre had the most digs on the team in the match with 14. 

UP NEXT:

• The Sunbirds are set to play their final home game of the season on Wednesday, when they host Academy of Art at 5 p.m.
