Lombardi Breaks School Record at Franson Classic

AZUSA, Calif. – FPU Track and Field's Brett Lombardi snapped a 17-year-old school record in the decathlon in the Franson Classic hosted by Azusa Pacific on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Lombardi registered 7,014 points, eclipsing that of former record holder and Hall of Fame inductee Ben Bogdanof, who set the previous mark of 6,936 points while winning the 2004 NAIA National Championship.
  • Lombardi had lifetime personal-bests in five of the 10 contested events, and his top four point-getters all came on the track.
  • Bjoern Adden had an excellent outing as well, scoring 6,795 points to move into third all-time in Fresno Pacific history.
  • He was just 59 points off of his lifetime best.
  • These marks move Lombardi and Adden to fourth and 10th, respectively, on the DII performance list for the season.
UP NEXT:
  • The Sunbirds are set to compete in the Bryan Clay Invitational hosted by Azusa Pacific next weekend.
