Sunbirds Show Out at Westmont Classic

SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific track and field team traveled to Santa Barbara, Calif. to compete in the Westmont Classic on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Kyla Richardson took the top spot in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 12.02. She was followed closely by teammate Kyra Bailey who earned a time of 12.16.
  • Gianna Dickson dominated the 100m hurdles, taking first place with a time of 14.51.
  • The team of Zara Anthony, Richardson, Bailey and Danae Manibog hustled to the front of the 4x100m relay, finishing the race with a time of 47.39. The time was almost a full second faster than the second-place effort from George Fox.
  • Mikaela Smith finished the 800m in 2:13.20 for third, and is now third all-time for FPU. She's just one second off the provisional qualifying mark and currently holds the 9th fastest time in the nation. 
  • Smith and Chloe Sharp combined with Manibog and Bailey to win the 400m relay with a time of 3:50.84.
  • Women's field events were highlighted by a strong effort from Kristi Yorke who cleared 12'1.5" in the pole vault, good enough for second place.
  • Olivia Nash took second place in the triple jump with a mark of 37'5.25".
  • Christy Norris-Dow took second in the shot put with a toss of 42'1.5".
  • Bryan Banuelos continued to impress with a strong showing in the 1500m finals, completing the race in 3:59.22 for a second-place finish.
  • Cullin Bates showed out in the 110m hurdles, winning the event with a time of 15.12.
  • Bates took second in the 400m hurdles with a time of 55.37.
  • Isaac Davis was excellent in the triple jump, setting a mark of 46'9.5" that set a new lifetime best.
  • Moe Bradley ripped a throw of 51'1.75" in the shot put that was good enough for second place.
  • Brett Lombardi and Bjoern Adden competed int he decathlon during the week. Lombardi earned 6,636 points, making him third all-time for FPU. Adden scored 6481 to move into 5th all-time for FPU. Both are provisional standards for nationals.
