SAN DIMAS, Calif.- The Fresno Pacific volleyball team opened the season on Thursday evening, falling 3-1 on the road against Life Pacific.   
 
QUOTABLE:

It's been over a year since we have played in an actual match, so naturally we had a lot of jitters and made a ton of uncharacteristic mistakes. INSIDE THE MATCHUP:  

• Final: Life Pacific 3, Fresno Pacific 1 
• Records: Fresno Pacific (0-1), Life Pacific (2-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Sunbirds pulled out a narrow 25-23 victory in the opening set of the season. 
• Life Pacific answered with a 25-11 win in the second set to tie the match at 1-1. 
• The Warriors closed it out with 25-19 and 25-17 victories in the third and fourth sets respectively. 

 
STATS FROM THE MATCH:

• Corinne Acosta (23 digs, 10 kills) and Catie Speas (16 assists, 14 digs) each turned in a double-double for the Blue and Orange. 
• Chantel Montayre led the Sunbirds defensively with 25 digs, four short of Sydney Culpepper's match-high 29.

 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:  

• The victory for Life Pacific is their first ever over an NCAA Division II opponent. 
• Acosta's double-double is the 14^thof her FPU career.
