Sunbirds Drop Sunday Match, Turn Focus to Saturday

Box Score SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's team played its' second match in as many days on Sunday afternoon, falling 7-0 to undefeated Cal Poly on the road. Four of FPU's five matches this season have come against NCAA Division I opponents. 
 
QUOTABLE:  
  • "Today was a great learning experience as a team. We got an insight on what we need to tweak and adjust moving forward. I give credit to Cal Poly, as they were the most challenging team we've faced so far, but we look at it as another opportunity for growth. Our goal as a team now is to bounce back stronger for our next match against Dominican on Saturday." – head coach George Rodriguez
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:  
  • The Mustangs swept doubles competition to earn the first point of the afternoon. 
  • Dominique Stone won the top singles flight 6-0, 6-1 over Mariia Borodii to make it a 2-0 Cal Poly lead. 
  • Sanne Brull and Daimy Paula fell in the fifth and sixth flights to give the Mustangs a 4-0 advantage and the clinching point. 
  • Cal Poly finished the day with wins on courts two, four and three. 
 
UP NEXT:  
  • The Sunbirds are back in action on Saturday, when they head to the Bay Area to take on Dominican. The match is set to begin at 12:00 p.m. from San Rafael.
