QUOTABLE:
  • "I'm not sure I've ever had a timeline quite like this game. To find out that we were playing on such short notice and to mentally and physically prepare is a true testament to the character of our team. Figuring out a way to win different types of games is such an important part of the process each year. Tonight, we gutted out stretches of this game that absolutely had to in order to have a chance. When the second half came, we had key people step up at key moments, which is a great feeling. Those play along with a lively bench gave us the edge we needed."– head coach Tim Beauregard

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Urban Knights controlled the opening tip, allowing Brooke Rodgers to come away with the first bucket of the game.
  • FPU fell behind early but closed out the first half with a 13-6 run that cut the ART U lead to just three heading to the break.
  • The Blue and Orange finally pulled even with their hosts with 1:40 to play in the third by way of a Rachel Berry free throw, and by quarter's end, the 'Birds had moved in front by five points.
  • Academy of Art stayed within striking distance in the fourth quarter, but FPU never came off the lead.

STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • Berry finished her night with a game-high 17 points and six rebounds, while Bayli McClard and Maesyn Rix combined for 24 points.
  • Freshman Bre Hurt came off the bench to record her first career double-double, pouring in 10 points and grabbing 11 boards.
  • FPU outrebounded the Urban Knights by a margin of 46-38.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

UP NEXT:
