AZUSA, Calif. -  The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team took on Azusa Pacific in a rematch from a week ago. The Sunbirds led entering the fourth quarter, but a late push from the home team proved to be enough as the Cougars outlasted the Sunbirds 75-70 on Tuesday afternoon. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:  

• A layup from Bayli McClard sparked a short 6-0 run for the Sunbirds, giving them a 14-8 lead with 3:33 left in the first quarter.
• The Blue and Orange opened the second quarter with another a 12-4 run, giving them a 28-18 lead with 5:15 remaining in the half. 
• The Sunbirds trailed by two entering the second half, but a jumper from Jessica Malazarte tied the game at 34 early in the fourth quarter. 
• Bre Hurt's layup with 2:36 left in the third quarter tied the game at 44. 
• Rachel Berry scored the final four points of the third quarter, putting the Sunbirds up 50-46 with a quarter left in the game. 
• With 3:07 left, the game was tied at 63, as the Cougars were able to edge past the Sunbirds with late free throws. 

 
STATS FROM THE GAME:  

• Malazarte led the Sunbirds in scoring with 21 points while going 7-for-14 from the field. 
• Berry finished a rebound away from a double-double, scoring 15 points with nine rebounds. 
• McClard also contributed 15 points for 'Birds on an efficient 6-for-8 from the field. 
• The Sunbird bench outscored the Cougar bench 17-6, and were led by Vanessa Cochrane who had eight. 

UP NEXT:  

• The Sunbirds will be back in action on Friday when they travel to Belmont, Calif. to take on Academy of Art at 2 p.m.
