HILO – The Fresno Pacific University volleyball team played the final match of their Hawaii road trip against Hawaii Hilo on Saturday night, as the home team got the better of the Sunbirds 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-21).  

HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Sunbirds trailed 8-2 early when Corinne Acosta had a kill that sparked an 8-2 to tie it at 10.
• The Vulcans pulled away and took the set 25-19.
• HHU was dominant in the second set, taking it 25-11.
• The Birds opened the third set on a strong 8-4 run.
• The Sunbirds led 21-20, when the Vulcans secured the set with five straight points to win 25-21 and 3-0.  

STATS FROM THE GAME

• Lauren Wamsley led the Sunbirds with eight kills, while adding 11 digs.
• Acosta had six kills, while Makena Ogas and Anastassiya Barakhoyeva had five each.
• Chantel Montayre led the Sunbirds with 19 digs.
