Acosta Leads Sunbirds in Sweep of Sharks

HONOLULU – Corinne Acosta was unstoppable on Thursday night when the Fresno Pacific University volleyball team visited Hawaii Pacific, as Acosta led the team with 17 kills on a .267 hitting percentage as the Sunbirds cruised to a 3-0 (25-11, 25-23, 25-12) sweep of the Sharks.

QUOTABLE
"Tonight was a lot of fun. Our goal was to win in three and stick to our game plan. It's tremendously hard to get wins in Hawaii because of all of the possible distractions here in paradise. Coming from behind to win set 2 was scary, but we are proud of our team for locking in and staying focused all match long. As a team we hit over .300 all night long ending at .330 for the match. Our outside hitters Corinne Acosta and Lauren Wamsley continue to improve and lead us offensively and our Libero Chantel Montayre was nothing short of impressive with 21 digs in 3 sets. Catie Speas ran our offense fiercely with 34 assists in just three sets and our middles Chloe Melis and Makena Ogas were a huge blocking front allowing us large point differentials in sets one and two. We are headed to the Big Island today to continue to hunt for PacWest victories." - head coach Shasta Millhollin
