Late Goal Shuts Down Sunbirds Upset Bid

Azusa, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University men's soccer team took on Azusa Pacific University on Thursday night, as a late goal from the Cougars proved to be enough against the Sunbirds as the home team took it 1-0 over the visitors. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • (24:08) Allen Escalante fired a shot that missed high, keeping the score at 0-0.
  • (34:42) Marley Edwards had a shot blocked by the Cougars.
  • (34:49) Christian Velarde's first shot saw the same fate as Edward's and was blocked by APU.
  • (46:44) APU's Jonah Peck snuck one past the FPU keeper for a goal assisted by Marco Astorga. 
  • (58:23) Taran Williams shot was saved by Brendan Fix.
  • (70:49) Fellipe Souza almost tied the game, but Fix made another clutch save. 
  • (85:26) D'Andre Renteria nearly found the late equalizer, but it was blocked.
