FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team continued its homestand Saturday afternoon as they hosted Point Loma. The Sunbirds battled early but couldn't keep pace with the Sea Lions as they took the PacWest Conference match 3-0 (29-27, 25-13, 25-16).
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

• The Sunbirds put themselves in a commanding position in the first set with a 22-15 lead, but the Sea Lions mounted a comeback and won the set 29-27.
• FPU started the second set strong and grabbed a 7-2 lead but were outscored 23-6 the remainder of the frame.
• The Sea Lions went on to take the third set 25-16 and 5he match 3-0.  

STATS FROM THE MATCH

• Corinne Acosta was solid for the Sunbirds, leading the team with 11 kills with an impressive 19 digs.
• Catie Speas oversaw the offensive, dishing out 24 assists.
• Makena Ogas was consistent for the Birds, finishing with five kills, five total blocks and six digs.
• Chantel Montayre led the team in digs with 26.

UP NEXT

• FPU's extended homestand will wrap up next Saturday when they host Academy of Art at 3 p.m. Following, they'll hit the road to take on Concordia on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.
