Pair of First Half Goals Not Enough for Sunbirds

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific University women's soccer team hosted Hawaii Hilo on Tuesday evening, as a pair of first half goals from Maiya-Ann Serrao and Madilyn Hernandez gave the Sunbirds an early lead, but the Vulcans battled back to take the match 3-2.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • (19:17) Maiya-Ann Serrao got the Sunbirds on the board with a missile that beat the keeper in the top right corner. 
  • (23:25) The Birds added to their lead when Madilyn Hernandez scored off an assist from Tori De Leon.
  • (36:11) HHU cut into FPU's lead when Daelenn Tokunaga scored. 
  • (54:47) The Vulcans knotted the game in the second half when Jordyn Pacheco scored off a pass from Filippa Graneld. 
  • (64:29) Takunaga gave the Vulcans the lead with a header just out of reach of Brigitta Eggertsdottir. 
STATS FROM THE GAME
  • FPU brought a balanced attack, getting four shots off in each half. 
  • Eggertdottir was strong for the Sunbirds, making six saves throughout the match.

  • Serrao's goal was the first of her career for the Sunbirds.
