LOS ANGELES. –  The Fresno Pacific University men's water polo team played #14 Loyola Marymount on Saturday morning, as the Lions roared past the Sunbirds 26-8.

Where we are now compared to where we were two months ago is night and day. I feel we're in a good place heading into our final regular-season game next week. HOW IT HAPPENED

• Thilo Popp and Pietro Cattano scored goals early, but the Sunbirds trailed 5-2 after the first period.
• LMU scored seven unanswered goals ranging from the end of the first period to 4:46 to go in the first half.
• Nikita Kravstov broke the streak with a goal in the second period.
• The Lions pulled away late, dropping the Sunbirds 26-8.

STATS FROM THE GAME

• Eugenio Maldonado led the Sunbirds with three goals on five shots taken.
• Clay Maroney made 10 saves during the match.
