HAYWARD, Calif. – A goal in each half lifted the Fresno Pacific University men's soccer team over Holy Names as the Sunbirds shut out the Hawks 2-0 on Saturday night.
QUOTABLE
"We came out with a sense of purpose, after a heartbreaker loss at Dominican. A match, I believe, we could have won. Led by our senior captain, Fellipe Souza, we were able to open the score towards the end of the first half. A handful of opportunities could not be capitalized. They made adjustments at half time and made the match difficult for us. Our solid defensive play, coupled with Matteo Swenson's stellar net tending, kept the 1-0 lead until a punt fro Matteo and a pass from D'Andre Renteria, found Marley Edwards one on one with the goalie. Marley converted the opportunity to secure the victory for the blue and orange." - head coach Jaime Ramirez.
