SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – The FPU men's soccer team traveled to San Rafael, Calif. to square off against Dominican. Christian Velarde scored his first career goal for the Sunbird as they forced overtime with the Penguins, but the home team scored the golden goal to take the match 2-1 in overtime.

We learned a valuable lesson in giving up the winner with ten seconds left in the first overtime, must ensure the clock runs out before giving the home team a clear chance before time expires." - Head coach Jaime Ramirez. 
  
 HOW IT HAPPENED

• (32:38) Aboubacar Cisse opened the scoring when teammates Roberto Garcia and Brian Sanchez assisted on the Penguins' first goal.
• (76:31) Marley Edwards shifted the ball to Omri Schwartz who used one touch to place the ball perfectly for Velarde to score his first career goal.
• (99:55) Louie Galdamez scored the game-winning goal for the Penguins.  

STATS FROM THE GAME

• FPU controlled the pace, getting 20 shots off with eight coming on goal. 
• The Sunbirds turned the intensity up in the second half, with 11 of their 20 shots coming during the second 45-minute period. 
• The Birds created chances with eight corner kicks throughout the match.
• Gabriel Monteiro was relentless, taking seven shots throughout the match.
• Fellipe Souza was also on a tear, firing four shots throughout the contest.
