FRESNO, Calif – The final leg of hosting the Hawaii Pod of the PacWest Conference took place on Saturday afternoon for the Fresno Pacific University volleyball team, as the Chaminade Silverswords overpowered the Sunbirds 3-0 (25-18, 25-12, 25-18).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Silverswords scurried to a 14-5 lead in the opening set.
• The Sunbirds trailed 22-11 when a kill from Corinne Acosta sparked a 7-2 run, but it wasn't enough as they dropped the opening set 25-18.  
• CUH led 13-9 before busting out an 11-3 run that gave them a 25-12 set win.
• The Swords closed out the match with a 25-18 third set win.

STATS FROM THE MATCH: 

• Makena Ogas was efficient for the Sunbirds, hammering home nine kills on a .316 hitting percentage.
• Catie Speas led the Birds with 13 assists.
• Chantel Montayre had the most digs (13) of anyone on the team.

BEYOND THE BOX:

• The Silverswords were ranked #24 in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association National Poll. 

UP NEXT:
