Sunbirds Make Quick Work of Cyclones, Improve to 6-0

OAKLAND, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's tennis team picked up a 9-0 road victory over Mills College on Thursday, doing so in just 70 minutes.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP: 
  • Final: #23 Fresno Pacific 9, Mills 0  
  • Records: FPU (6-0), Mills (0-6)
  • Location: Meyer Tennis Center | Oakland, Calif.    
                
HOW IT HAPPENED:  
  • The doubles duo of Ioanna Lathouri and Alice Di Matteo picked up the first point of the day with an 8-0 win in the second flight.
  • Mariia Borodii and Lea Falentin then took the top doubles flight by the same score before Alice Marques and Sanne Brull helped finish off doubles with another 8-0 victory in the third flight.
  • Singles action didn't fare much better for the host Cyclones, as Lathouri and Brull quickly picked up 6-0 victories in the third and sixth flights respectively.
  • Di Matteo and Borodii then picked up 6-0 wins in the fourth and second flights, and Marques and Falentin wrapped up the fifth and first flights with more 6-0 scores. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX:   
  • The Sunbirds are ranked 23rd in the most recent edition of the ITA Rankings. 
  • Brull, Di Matteo, Falentin and Lathouri are a combined 20-0 in singles action so far this season.

  • FPU will wrap up a two-day Bay Area road trip on Friday, when they take on Domincan. The match is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
