GOLDEN, Colo. – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team looked to pick up their first win of the season at the Oredigger Classic but were unsuccessful. The Sunbirds fell to Alaska Fairbanks 3-0 and Lubbock Christian 3-1.
"Our first four matches have been very good for us in terms of finding out what we need to work on heading into our next tournament. We know that what we are trying to build takes time. As a team we are continuing to live out what we call the 3 p's- the patience, perspective, and perseverance that it takes to go the distance," said head coach Shasta Millhollin.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sunbirds got off to a quick start in their first game against Alaksa Fairbanks as the Sunbirds got out to a 5-0 lead. Alaska would not give up that easy though as they battled back and would trade points with FPU the rest of the set before Nanooks pulled away and took game one 25-20.
- The Nanooks kept their momentum into the second set as they took a 13-8 lead and never looked back from there taking set two 25-19. The third set produced a similar story as FPU started behind again and got a little bit of momentum but could not out do UAF. FPU was held to .21 hitting percentage in the match compared to UAF .407.
- In game two of the day, FPU and LCU battled point for point most of the first set, however, the Lady Chaps managed to take the first set 25- 20. The Birds fought back in the second set and were able to take the second set. FPU hit .366 compared to LCU .195 in the second set.
- Lubbock came out ready to play in the third set as they took an early 6-1 lead resulting in a Fresno timeout. The Lady Champs kept the pedal down as they took the third set 25-16.
- LCU carried their momentum over from the previous set and took an early 11-3 lead on FPU. The Birds showed some fight as they came with four-straight kills to get within eight of the Lady Chaps. Lubbock's hot start to the fourth set however was too much for the Birds to come back from as they dropped the final set.
