SAN FRANCISCO -- Fresno Pacific still looking to pick up their first win of the season took on Concordia-Portland and San Francisco State in the final day of the West Region Showcase. The Birds opened the day with a 3-1 loss to Concordia and then fell to San Francisco State 3-1 as well.
"We are continuing to see progress in the process this season, and we had several moments of pure greatness! We are ready to get some much needed rest before getting after it in the gym again," said head coach

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Sunbirds came out ready to play in game one against the Cavaliers as they took the opening set after a long back and forth battle. Concordia took the following two sets easily, but FPU made them work for the win the fourth set although they ultimately fell 23-25.
- After being down to 14-19 in the first set the Sunbirds battled back against the Gators but ended up dropping the first set 24-26. The Birds fought hard in the second set to pick up the win 26-24, but that was the end for FPU as the dropped the next two sets to San Francisco State.
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Corinne Acosta was the bright spot for the Birds as she had a team high .333 hitting percentage and a high of 13 kills despite the loss. Acosta also managed to record 17 digs just two behind Sierra LeBeau who had 19.
- The Sunbirds totaled nine aces in the four-set match; Christina Tran had a team high of three followed by Janae Bibby and Jaalyn Sotoa-Stuebing with two apiece.
- Tran also added 21 assists and 12 digs for the Birds.
