FRESNO, CALIF. -- Fresno Pacific hosted Westcliff in their home opener on Thursday, September 19^th.  The Sunbirds took down the Warriors in three straight sets to earn their first win of the season. This win came just in time as Fresno Pacific begins PacWest play on Friday at Notre Dame de Namur.  
 
INSIDE THE MATCH UPS:
Final: Fresno Pacific 3, Westcliff 0
Set Score: 25-16, 25-20, 25-21
Records: FPU (1-9) WU, (6-5)   
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Sunbirds came out ready to play in game one against the Warriors as they took the opening set pretty handily. FPU kept their foot down as they took the second set as well, although Westcliff put up a battle.  
• Fresno Pacific earned a clean sweep over Westcliff as they took the third set and earned their first win of the 2019 season.

 
STATS OF THE MATCH:

• Corinne Acosta led the way for the birds as she hit .333 and had 13 kills. Makena Ogas also contributed 13 kills for FPU.
• On the backrow Sierra LeBeau totaled a game high of 23 digs. Acosta also added 15 digs for the Birds.
• Senior Christina Tran continues to be a leader for the Birds as she totaled 23 assists, 13 digs, six kills, and two aces.

 
BEYOND THE BOX  

• Head Coach Shasta Millhollin earned her first NCAA DII win.
