SURPRISE, Ariz. – The Fresno Pacific women's tennis team picked up a 4-2 victory on Wednesday, defeating Stanislaus State in the first round of the PacWest Conference Tournament. The Sunbirds have now defeated the Warriors three times this spring and will advance to play top-seeded Academy of Art on Thursday afternoon.

INSIDE THE MATCHUPS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Warriors took the doubles point with two victories, but FPU quickly went to work in singles action.

Ioanna Lathouri was the first Sunbird to wrap up her singles match, defeating Amila Gogalija 6-3, 6-1 in the second flight to even the score at 1-1.
• Stanislaus State got its' final point of the day in the top flight, with Cassidy Ferrell picking up a 6-0, 6-1 win.
•
Claudia Iglesias knocked off Sylvana Talamantes 6-3, 6-2 in the sixth flight, and
Imane Van Veen followed with a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the fourth.

Sanne Brull wrapped up the afternoon with a 6-1, 6-4 victory win in #5 singles, while
Alice Di Matteo was up 4-0 in the second set in the third flight at the time of the clinch.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds defeated Stanislaus State 4-3 in Turlock and 5-2 in Fresno prior to Wednesday's match.
• FPU has now won seven straight dating back to March 29.
