Sunbirds Become First PacWest Team to Five Wins

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's tennis stayed hot on Thursday, picking up a 7-0 sweep of Holy Names at Haak Tennis Complex. The Sunbirds remain unbeaten at home and improve to 5-1 with the victory.
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sanne Brull and Alice Di Matteo wrapped up third flight doubles with a 6-0 victory, but the Hawks bounced back in the second flight to even doubles at 1-1.
• Ioanna Lathouri and Gaya Solomon teamed up to defeat Jahan Bayramova and Dominique Ernst 6-4 in the top flight, giving the 'Birds the momentum moving into singles action.
• Lathouri was the first to wrap up her singles match, defeating Bayramova 6-2, 6-0.
• Marina Lex took her first set 6-2 and was up 3-0 in the second before her opponent retired.
• Imane Van Veen was the next to finished her match at #4 singles, giving FPU the fourth point and the official victory.
• Di Matteo needed three sets to take down Dominique Ernst in the third flight before Brull knocked off Macy Barajas 6-2, 6-3.
• Iglesias and Eilis Work went three sets before Iglesias pulled off the 10-6 victory to finish off the sweep. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds now have more wins than any team in the PacWest Conference, putting them atop the league standings.
• FPU is in the middle of a stretch of seven matches in eight days.
• Di Matteo has yet to lose in either singles or doubles action this spring.

• The Sunbirds are back in action on Saturday, when they head to Turlock to take on Stanislaus State. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
