OAKLAND, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's tennis team improved to 8-2 for the year on Friday afternoon, defeating Holy Names 4-3 on the road. The Hawks become the first opponent the Sunbirds have beaten twice this season, while FPU now stands 5-2 against opponents in the PacWest Conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Hawks took two doubles matches to earn the point, but the FPU tandem of
Alice Di Matteo and
Sanne Brull picked up a 6-3 victory in the third flight.

Claudia Iglesias was the first to wrap up her singles match, earning the Sunbirds their first point of the day.
•
Ioanna Lathouri won by opponent retirement in the second flight, and HNU's Jahan Bayramova won the top singles flight 6-1, 6-4.
• Brull defeated Macy Barajas 6-1, 6-3 in the fifth set, and Di Matteo gave the 'Birds another point with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Dominique Ernst in the third flight to clinch the match.

Imane Van Veen went three set with Symone Jacques before the Hawks earned their final point of the day with a 7-5 victory.
BEYOND THE BOX:
