FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific baseball team will hit the road this weekend for the first time this season, taking on Sonoma State in Rohnert Park for a three-game series. The Sunbirds and Seawolves open with a Sunday doubleheader before wrapping up the series on Monday afternoon.

Fresno Pacific dropped both ends of Friday's season-opening doubleheader to #21 Chico State, falling by one run in each game. Seniors Ross Dodds and Adam Aleman provided four of the team's ten hits against a strong Wildcat pitching staff, while six Sunbird arms combined to allow just three earned runs in 21 innings on the hill. The Blue and Orange will look to bounce back from a shaky weekend in the field after committing five errors against Chico State, giving FPU a .947 fielding percentage as a team.

About the Seawolves (0-0)
Sonoma State is set to open the season on Sunday after being selected seventh in the CCAA Preseason Coaches' Poll. Outfielder Zach Guardino is back for his senior year, looking to follow up on a strong junior season that saw him hit .336 and finish second on the team in RBI. 
 
FPU claims a 6-4 all-time advantage against Sonoma State, but the Sunbirds have struggled to a 1-3 record on the road. Last season in Fresno, the two teams combined for 66 runs in a slugfest of a three-game series, with the Blue and Orange taking both ends of the doubleheader.
