Jake Straughan and
Elijah Hill scored 16 points apiece for the Sunbirds in the setback.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The 'Birds and Sea Lions exchanged buckets in the opening seven minutes. Hill's eight points had FPU up 15-14 with just over 13 minutes to play in the opening half.
• PLNU then ran off a 10-0 run to gain control and lead 44-35 at half.
• FPU cut the lead to eight on two different occasions in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Sea Lions eventually ran away with the win on their home court.
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Straughan made four threes en route to his 16 points, while Hill shot 7-of-10 from the floor for his 16.
Aamondae Coleman added 12 points, Antunez scored nine and
Toby Christensen totaled seven points and six rebounds for the Sunbirds.
• FPU finished 48 percent from the floor, but PLNU countered at 58 percent.
• The Sea Lions won the rebounding battle 34-26 and outscored FPU 40-28 in the paint.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• After an injury-battled season, Straughan picked up his second double-digit scoring effort of the season.
• Point Loma clinched the regular season conference title on Saturday with its win.
