AZUSA, Calif. – Fresno Pacific made their way down south to compete in their last two matches of the 2019 season. The 'Birds took on PacWest Championships Azusa Pacific on Friday, November 22
nd in the Felix Event Center.
"Azusa is a very good team with a ton of veteran talent and a lot of experience, so we knew that playing them in their gym on their senior night would be tough. Despite the scores, we battled throughout the match and continued to grow as a team. We are proud of the way that we continue to fight, and we are looking forward to another great match tomorrow," said head coach Shasta Millhollin.
INSIDE THE MATCH UPS:
Final: Fresno Pacific 0, Azusa Pacific 3

Records: FPU (6-24), APU (26-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Azusa got off to a quick start as they went up 5-1 over the 'Birds to start the match. After being down 23-11 FPU strung together four-straight points, but the Cougars would still take the first set.
- Set two was all APU as they took a 16-5 lead and never looked back securing the second set as well.
- Set number three looked like it was going to be a repeat of the second set as FPU was down 1-5 before Jaalyn Sotoa-Stuebing recorded back-to-back kills and gave the 'Birds a little bit of momentum. APU however went on another long run and locked in the three-game sweep over the Sunbirds.
