Sunbirds Drop Physical Conference Opener to Concordia

FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific men's soccer team was tripped up on Saturday night, falling 2-1 to Concordia in the PacWest Conference opener at Ramirez Field. 
 
INSIDE THE MATCHUP:
  • Final: Concordia 2, Fresno Pacific 1 
  • Records: FPU (2-6-0, 0-1-0), CUI (1-5-0, 1-0-0
  • All-Time Series: FPU leads 23-11-1
 
SCORING:
  • (4:47) Brian Leyva got the Blue and Orange on the board with a long shot from the top of the box that found the back of the net. 
  • (56:52) Luke Ryan provided the equalizer on a second-chance effort for the Eagles after Logan Dinsdale saved the initial shot off the foot of Caley Powers. 
  • (81:25) Powers came away with the game-winner with a volley to the left side. 
 
STATS FROM THE GAME:
  • Concordia outshot their hosts 14-9, including an 8-1 mark in shots on frame.        
  • FPU keeper Logan Dinsdale picked up six saves in the loss. 
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
  • FPU dropped the conference opener for the first time since the 2012 season.
