HONOLULU, HAWAI'I. – After a long home stand the Sunbirds traveled to Hawai'i for a three-game road trip. FPU started off the trip at Hawai'i Pacific University on Wednesday, October 16
th. The 'Birds dropped their first match in three sets to the Sharks.
INSIDE THE MATCH UPS:
Final: Fresno Pacific 0, Hawai'i Pacific 3
Set Score: 15-25, 16-25, 19-25
Records: FPU (2-17), HPU (12-6)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- - The Sharks jumped out to an early lead of 9-4 over the Sunbirds and never looked back.
- - It was a similar story in the second set as HPU got an early lead and kept FPU at arms distance the rest of the set.
- - In the third set the Sunbirds came out with a little more fight as they trailed 9-6 and made the Sharks work for their points.
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- - Freshmen Corinne Acosta and Makena Ogas continue to be the bright spot for the Sunbirds as they lead the way in points and kills. Acosta totaled 10 while Ogas added nine in the loss.
- -On the back-line Sierra LeBeau had a team high of 16 digs while Acosta added 10.
- -Mikayla Kennedy was the only Sunbird to collect a solo block. The 'Birds totaled 10 blocking assists.
