FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific's high-scoring first half wasn't enough on Wednesday night, as the Sunbirds fell to Hawai'i Hilo 77-72 in PacWest action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds came out on fire, hitting eight threes in the first half to enjoy a 47-33 advantage at the break.
• Three treys from Jake Straughan and back-to-back threes from Nate Kendricks gave FPU its largest lead of the night of 17 points, 37-20, midway through the opening stanza.
• The second half was a different story, however, as the 'Birds committed 17 turnovers and shot 36 percent from the floor.
• FPU had a chance to tie the game on the last possession of the night, but a three came up short and Hilo escaped Fresno with the win.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Adrian Antunez led the Sunbirds with 12 points (6-of-8 FG) and five rebounds, while Straughan and Toby Christensen closed the night with 11 points apiece.
• FPU finished at 55 percent from the floor, while Hilo countered at 44 percent.
• Larry Bush led the Vulcans with a game-high 24 points and nine rebounds.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• FPU's 27 turnovers were a season high.
• The 10 made threes were the second highest total of the season.
