LA JOLLA, Calif. – Fresno Pacific ran into a red-hot UC San Diego team on Saturday, as the Sunbirds fell to the 11th-ranked Tritons 14-3 to open Western Water Polo Association (WWPA) play.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Tritons scored the opening seven goals of the game to take control of the match. The 'Birds trailed 8-1 at the half.
• FPU scored twice in the third period, but it wasn't enough as the host Tritons finished off the victory with six second-half goals.
 
STATS OF THE GAME:
• Uros Pelemis, Taylor Heckathorn and Paul Siebenaler led FPU with one goal apiece. Joshua Ramage totaled nine saves in the cage.
• The Sunbirds were held to 1-of-12 on power-play opportunities.
• UCSD finished with a .483 shooting percentage and had 10 different scorers.
