RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team stumbled on Saturday afternoon, falling 93-71 in an exhibition to NCAA Division-I California Baptist. Saturday's game marked the seventh for FPU in 15 days, and the Sunbirds will now have a week to recover before returning to league action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds struggled to find a consistent stroke in the first quarter, connecting on just one of their first eight shots from the floor.
• CBU jumped out to a 17-7 lead after the first ten minutes, highlighted by a big quarter from Ane Oleata.
• Cassie Pisik hit a three with 4:12 remaining in the second quarter to bring FPU within a bucket, but the Lancers answered with a 10-2 run to carry a 35-25 lead into the intermission.
• The Lancers came out of the locker room clicking on all cylinders in the second half, going up by as many as 26 in the third quarter.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
• Megan Sheret led the team with 14 points off the bench, while
Ashley Cross and
Jessica Malazarte gave the 'Birds three players in double-figures.
• CBU's Georgia Dale led all scorers with 19 points, while Lexy Ram and Afu Tiena combined for 34 points and 25 rebounds.
• The Sunbirds won the battle of the boards 52-47, but the Lancers won the turnover battle 20-18.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Sheret becomes the fifth different Sunbird to lead the team in scoring this season.
