HILO, Hawaii – The Fresno Pacific women's basketball team picked up a PacWest Conference victory on Monday night, defeating Hawai'i Hilo 83-64 in the finale of a three-game road trip. The Sunbirds return to the mainland with a 2-1 record in league play and the most overall wins in the league.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds controlled the opening tip, but a missed jumper led to the Vulcans getting on the scoreboard first.
• UHH took an 11-9 lead into the first media timeout of the game, but
Bree Alvarez went to the line immediately following the timeout.
• Alvarez hit both free throws to get the pull the 'Birds even, and her three-pointer capped a 10-0 FPU run three minutes later.
• Behind Alvarez and
Cassie Pisik, the Blue and Orange put the foot on the gas in the second quarter, going up by as many as 18 at the 4:22 mark.
• FPU scored 16 points off 12 Vulcan turnovers in the first half, heading to the locker room with a 44-29 lead.
• Alvarez picked up the third quarter right where she left off in the second, connecting on a pair of threes to total 25 points heading into the final quarter.
• The Vulcans were able to cut the deficit down to 10 in the fourth, but the Sunbirds were able to hang on for their second victory of league play.
STATS FROM THE GAME:
• Alvarez' five threes led to a season-best 27 points, while 13 free throws helped UHH' Allie Navarette match her for a game-high.
• Pisik tallied her third double-double of the season, scoring 14 points and collecting 16 rebounds.

Ashley Cross poured in 15 to give FPU three players in double-figures, while Vulcan guard Mandi Kawaha went for 22 on a 10-of-17 effort.
• The Sunbirds outrebounded their hosts 42-39 and shot better than 49% from the floor for the night.
• FPU has yet to lose the turnover battle in any game this season, and the trend continued (16-15) on Monday night.
BEYOND THE BOX:
• The Sunbirds are now 5-1 this year when they hit five or more threes in a game.
• FPU has won three straight against UHH to pull even in the all-time series.
