HONOLULU – The Fresno Pacific volleyball team finished off the 2018 season on Saturday in Hawai'i. The Sunbirds fell to Hawai'i Pacific in a five-set marathon with the set scores 14-25, 26-24, 23-25, 25-19 and 15-6 in favor of the Sharks.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds rolled in the opening set and held the Sharks to .048 hitting in the frame.
• FPU then hit .324 in the third, which was capped off by a
Greta Dobenecker ace to seal the set.Â
• The Sharks answered back in the fourth and fifth, however, to earn the match victory on senior day.

STATS OF THE MATCH:
•
Mikayla Kennedy led the Sunbirds with 13 kills, while
Carley Bock and
Madison Pierce added 12 apiece.
• Dobenecker had a solid night and dished out 45 assists and totaled 18 digs for FPU to pick up one last double-double.
• The Sunbird defense was led by
Sierra LeBeau, who totaled 32 digs, and
Jaalyn Sotoa-Stuebing, who amassed seven blocks.

BEYOND THE BOX:
• LeBeau set a new career high in digs in the setback.
• FPU's two freshmen closed the season with career highs as well: Kennedy (13 kills), Sotoa-Stuebing (seven blocks).
• The Sunbirds will graduate five seniors: Bock, Pierce, Dobenecker,
Caroline Bodziak and
Hannah Miller.
