Sunbirds Close out Homestand with Two Matches

FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno Pacific closes out its seven-game homestand this weekend with two matches. FPU hosts Academy of Art on Veterans Appreciation Night on Friday before taking on Holy Names on Senior Day on Saturday.

ABOUT THE SUNBIRDS
• Fresno Pacific currently sits at 5-21 overall and 4-13 in league play. The Sunbirds will look to snap a five-game skid this week. FPU most recently fell to Chaminade 3-0 on Saturday. Greta Dobenecker dished out 21 assists and Mikayla Kennedy totaled nine kills for FPU.
• As a team, the Sunbirds currently rank second in the PacWest in digs per set (16.59), while the offense sits in seventh in kills per set (11.87).
• On Saturday FPU will honor its five seniors before the match: Dobenecker, Caroline Bodziak, Carley Bock, Hannah Miller and Madison Pierce.

• Academy of Art enters at 1-25 overall and 1-17 in league play. ART U is coming off its first win of the season on Wednesday night, as the Urban Knights downed Holy Names 3-2 in San Francisco.
• ART U ranks 11th in in the conference in kills per set (10.03) and last in digs per set (13.19). Ashley Pawlak leads the team with a 2.50 kills per set average.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• The Sunbirds lead the all-time series with Academy of Art, 13-0. FPU defeated the Urban Knights 3-1 in San Francisco on Sept. 22.
 
ABOUT THE HAWKS
• Holy Names currently sits at 3-21 overall and 2-16 in conference play. HNU will look to snap a 12-game losing streak on Saturday. The Hawks most recently fell to ART U on Wednesday night in SF.
• HNU is struggling to find any momentum on offense, as the Hawks are hitting .116 as a team. Sierra Allen leads the team with a 2.10 kills per set average.
 
SERIES HISTORY

• FPU holds a perfect 20-0 mark against Holy Names. The Sunbirds defeated HNU 3-1 on Sept. 21 in Oakland.
