Sunbirds Tripped Up against Chaminade

FRESNO, Calif. – Greta Dobenecker handed out a game-high 21 assists on Saturday afternoon, but Fresno Pacific fell to Chaminade 3-0 in PacWest action. Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-15 in favor of the Silverswords.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• The Sunbirds gave the Silverswords all they could handle in the first set, but an adjustment after a Chaminade timeout helped the visitors finish on a 11-3 run.
• A ball-handling error by the 'Swords gave the 'Birds a 12-11 lead in the second set, but Chaminade again rattled off seven straight points to take command of the set. 
• The third set proved much the same, as FPU's final lead of the match was an early 5-4 advantage.
 
STATS OF THE MATCH:
• Chaminade's Alana Handy and Brooke Bell teamed up for 23 kills, while Mikayla Kennedy led the Blue and Orange in that category with nine.
• Dobenecker spread the ball around to total 21 assists, while Sierra LeBeau collected a team-high 12 digs.
• The Silverswords out-blocked their hosts 14-4, while three different Chaminade players were credited with a block.
 
BEYOND THE BOX:
• Dobenecker has recorded 20 or more assists on 14 occasions this fall, including 10 of her last 11 matches.
